Denial of service is one of the most serious problems in network protocols.
The ability of systems to withstand denial of service attacks depends upon
the protocol and the implementation. Anomaly intrusion detection
techniques detect statistically unexpected patterns. The WATCHERS
protocol enables routers to detect and isolate compromised routers (under
certain assumptions). We are investigating these three approaches
to handling the denial of service problem.
