Biswanath Mukherjee

is Associate Professor of Computer Science at the University of California, Davis.

Research Interests and Experience

Since 1987, Professor Mukherjee has been with the University of California, Davis. Here he has been heavily involved with the NSM and DIDS projects undertaken be the Computer Security Group.

Dr. Mukherjee has authored over 75 technical papers including 29 papers in archival journals, and he is co-winner of the 14th National Computer Security Conference Outstanding Paper Award (1991). His research on lightwave networks and network security is being supported by NSF, ARPA, and NSA. Dr. Mukherjee has supervised three Ph.D. dissertation and six MS theses.

Education

Professor Mukherjee received his B.Tech. (Hons) in Electronics and Electrical Communications Engg. from IIT Kharagpur (India) in 1980. He obtained his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Washington in 1987 where he received a General Electric Foundation Fellowship. His advisor was Professor James S. Meditch.

Professional Activities

Professor Mukherjee serves on the editorial boards of the IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking and Journal of High-Speed Networks. He is also Technical Program Chair for the IEEE INFOCOM `96 conference. He is also a Guest Editor for the Journal of High-Speed Networks' Special Issue on WDM Networks. He has acted as a consultant for Optivision, Inc., Physical Optics Corp., AKM Associates, and other organizations.
